Medical technology and the healthcare industry make a noticeable contribution to Germany’s economic stability. Companies invest around 15 per cent of their turnover in research and development every year. Technological progress thus remains closely linked to the industry. With an import volume of 5.5 billion euros, the USA is the most important single buyer country for German medical technology.
