A very apt metaphor describes our workforce not as an ordinary wall with uniform bricks, but as a natural stone wall. Every brick, every employee is unique, hand-picked and integrated into the overall picture. This metaphor can also be applied to our services. One of the stones that forms the end of the wall is the small series.
Small series at B&W Engineering: the building block that sets us apart
As a rule, products are put into mass production after development. However, small series play an important role in medical technology in particular and finding a suitable supplier can be a challenge. The reason for this is the high cost of the required equipment and appropriately trained personnel.
At B&W, we are the stonemasons who fit this special small series stone into our natural stone wall. We accompany the development of a product from start to finish. From industrial design to mechanics, hardware and software, right through to small series production.
A mosaic of possibilities
One example of the combination of in-house manufactured and purchased parts is an optical alignment element in medical technology. We manufactured high-precision turned and milled parts for this and also took care of the procurement of lenses and calibration.
And we did this for a series of 100 assemblies.

Another scenario relates to the provision of 200 units for the prototype development of a therapy instrument. The idea was to collect important data from these preliminary versions without driving up the costs per unit. Each unit is made up of around 150 components. In this case, we applied our expertise and contacts 150 times over to find the required parts that are both qualitative and cost-effective. We work closely with both the manufacturers of the prototypes and the suppliers for later series production. Another example in which we have exclusively purchased parts is the assembly of 200 devices for the prototype phase of a project. Each device consists of around 150 individual parts. We procure the required components and work closely with prototype manufacturers and series suppliers.
Thanks to our expertise and equipment, we also develop the final test stations for electromechanical assemblies, for example in the field of medical ventilation.
In the multifaceted engineering landscape, it is the small series that can make the difference when selecting a service provider. They are a technical challenge that we take on with heart and soul. Swing the metaphorical chisel with us and shape the engineering of tomorrow with heart and mind.
